Having to change my initial plans due to the wildfire in Bryce Canyon, I decided to head to Canyonlands and Arches National Parks. These parks are a 400+ km drive from Bryce Canyon, so I had a long days drive ahead of me.
Just a couple of hours after waking up in the Zion wilderness, I was on my way to Bryce Canyon National Park (just Bryce from now on) as fast as I could, while still making sure to take time to appreciate the beauty around me. The road through Zion alone is something else, I’m very glad I had enough time for everything while still making my schedule.
“How do you prepare for the Pacific Crest Trail?”, is a question asked by many people when talking about thru-hiking the whole trail. Well, besides being fit at the start, all you can actually do is make sure you have the right gear, have tested it and know how it works. So that’s what I set out to do in the US. Get used to my gear and test it in Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah.
With August behind us, an enjoyable and hot summer has passed in the Netherlands, and with it brings September. For me, this marks the start of a hectic and exciting six months. During which I will wrap up my life in Amsterdam and prepare for a trip of a lifetime, which will lead me to who-knows-how-many countries in two years travelling the world.
